Design Goals:
The original home featured a small, awkward kitchen, a cramped dining nook, and a tight rear mudroom. The adjacent living room couldn't be arranged without obstructing a door, and the formal front dining room was largely unused. Our task was to redesign the main floor layout to better suit the family's needs, incorporating a large eat-in island, converting the unused dining room into a mudroom, and creating a space that was open, inviting, and functional. While they sought a more modern aesthetic, they also wished to integrate elements from their travels in Africa, reflecting their deep personal connection to those experiences.
Window Coverings: We opted for coordinating window treatments throughout the great room, using the same fabric to maintain a cohesive aesthetic—Silhouettes in the living room and Luminettes in the kitchen. In the living room, the shades feature horizontal vanes that diffuse light while providing UV protection to safeguard the furniture, millwork, flooring, and artwork. In the kitchen, the sheers elegantly combine the grace of floor-to-ceiling drapery with the practicality of blinds. They can be fully opened or closed like traditional drapes, while the internal vanes can be tilted to control the light, adding versatility. Both styles introduce a gentle softness to the light and acoustics of the space, perfectly complementing the modern, clean design while maintaining a warm, inviting atmosphere.
For the front of the home, in the mudroom and office, we took a slightly more distinctive approach with dark woven wood shades. These Provenance shades offer a unique contrast, featuring a white exterior for curb appeal and rich tones of black, brown, and green on the interior, subtly referencing the clients' cherished memories of Africa.

This project was for a repeat client with a clear vision: she loved color, whimsy, and art. Our objective was to transform the main bathroom to provide significantly more storage and redesign the half-bath ensuite to be both more functional and playful. Additionally, she sought to improve the functionality of the linen closet at the end of the hallway and to disguise the front closet, so it wouldn’t appear as just another typical entryway space. To meet her desire for vibrant and cheerful spaces, we embraced color and pattern at every opportunity. The front closet was redesigned with full-height millwork doors and adorned with a stunning mural our client discovered and adored. This project was a true delight, resulting in one of the most fun and imaginative transformations we've ever completed!

Design Goals:
This elegant home, though beautiful, felt constrained in its most frequented spaces: the kitchen and dining area. Our challenge was to remove a main floor bedroom and integrate that space back into the great room. By extending the kitchen into the former bedroom’s footprint and introducing a spacious, open dining area between the living room and kitchen, we were able to repurpose the dining nook, into a light-filled indoor/outdoor breakfast nook, with doors leading to adjoining outdoor spaces on either side. Additionally, we transformed the formal dining room into a cozy lounge, offering the musicians in the family a relaxed space to play their guitars while still remaining connected to the great room. The front entry was redesigned to include a bench with a striking red cushion. What was once a cramped, enclosed kitchen and dining area is now an open, and inviting great room.

Our client had a clear vision but wasn’t sure how to bring it to life. The kitchen, last renovated in the 1990s, was in need of both a fresh aesthetic and improved functionality. Working within a budget, we maximized the use of pre-fabricated cabinetry, enhancing them with custom modifications to suit the space. The breakfast nook at the rear of the kitchen posed a challenge—too small to serve as a distinct area, yet too isolated to integrate into the kitchen's overall footprint. Our solution was to design a generously curved dining peninsula, which provided space for the cooktop while keeping guests seated at the bar safely out of the cooking zone. The curved design also fostered a more intimate dining experience, encouraging conversation by avoiding the linear arrangement of a traditional bar.
